Maria Duschenes has helped the dancing scene of the city of São Paulo to gain authorship and autonomy of movement. She is part of a group of foreign performers who arrived in Brazil in the period between the two World Wars, bringing with them new ideas and information to share, which transformed the local dance:. “Through dancing, we talk to the world”, she used to say.
